More About Alex
In June 2022 Alex graduated with a MEng from the University of Edinburgh. She has recently completed her Master's thesis studying the performance of timber dowel connections at elevated temperatures. In September 2022, she started a PhD studying the fatigue properties of carbon tendons in bridges.
Alex has shadowed engineering professionals during the summers of 2018, 2020 and 2021 both in the UK and her home country, Cyprus. She worked with structural engineers, environmental regulators and project managers to discover different aspects of the civil engineering profession.
Alex has tutored French throughout her university studies as well as mentoring 1st year engineering students. She is eager to pass on her engineering knowledge and help fellow students excel in their studies.
Alex focuses on explaining the fundamental knowledge of a topic, the origin of an equation, the basis of the assumptions, so that students can not only solve one specific tutorial, but can also apply their engineering knowledge to solve complex problems.
